Romania is competing again in the world’s most prestigious motocross event, often called the “Motocross Olympics.” The event will be held from October 4-6 at the Matterley Basin circuit in the UK.
The Romanian team includes Krisztian Tompa (MXGP), Zoltan Ordog (MX2), and George Căbăl (MXOpen). This is Romania’s second time in the competition; the first was in 2013 when they finished 32nd out of 41 countries.
The team’s coach is Adrian Răduță, who competed in 2013, and Căbăl is making his return to the competition after 11 years. All three riders are multiple-time national and Balkan champions with international experience. In the Motocross of Nations, each team fields one rider in each of the three classes (MXGP, MX2, MXOpen), with their combined results determining the overall standings. The Romanian team’s goal is to qualify for the B final, where they’ll go up against some of the best riders in the world.
